As winter holds South Michigan in its chilly embrace, South Michigan Food Bank is excited to announce our 2nd annual Coldest Night of the Year event. On February 22nd, 2025, this unique event invites community members to come together, brave the cold, and make a significant impact in the fight against hunger.
What is CNOY?
Coldest Night of the Year is a family-friendly walk designed to raise awareness and funds for those experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness. SMFB is bringing this extraordinary event to the Battle Creek area for the 2nd year to support our mission of eliminating food insecurity in South Michigan. Community members can form teams, sign up to walk our 2k route, and raise funds to make a difference. Attendees will experience the warmth of community spirit and celebrate the collective effort to bring nourishment and hope to our neighbors facing hunger.
How did our first CNOY event go?
In 2024, SMFB held our first CNOY event, walking a route around our distribution center in the Fort Custer Industrial Park. The event was a major success! With over 200 participants, we were able to work together to raise enough funds to provide over 29,000 meals to our neighbors in South Michigan! This could not have been done without the help of everyone who participated. Our hearts were filled with gratitude seeing the outpouring of love and support at the event.
What are our 2025 goals?
In 2025, we are hoping to raise even more funds and provide more meals to those experiencing hunger. For our first year, we had a wonderful turnout of participants, and we would love to welcome even more people to join us for this winterrific experience.
How can you get involved?
Coldest Night of the Year is more than just an event; it’s a movement to bring our community closer and address the critical issue of hunger head-on. By walking, fundraising, donating, volunteering, or spreading the word, you can contribute to a stronger and healthier South Michigan.
If you are unable to attend our on-site walk on February 22nd, we encourage you to organize an off-site walk for any day in February on a route you choose.
