Apple “Pizzas”

Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 apples
  • 2 tablespoon peanut butter

Topping Ideas: (Just ideas, use what you like!)

  • 1 banana sliced
  • Blueberries
  • Raspberries
  • Mixed seeds
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Maple syrup
  • Fresh fruit
  • Frozen fruit
  • Dried fruit
  • Chopped nuts
  • Coconut flakes
  • Ground nutmeg
  • Cacao powder

Substitutions
You can also substitute another spread in lieu of peanut butter. Try:

  1. Tahini
  2. Raspberry compote
  3. Soft cheese
  4. Almond butter
  5. Cottage cheese
Directions
  1. Fill a mixing bowl halfway with cold water and add the lemon juice.
  2. Core the apples and slice into 5mm / ¼" slices, then place into the bowl of lemon water for a few minutes (to stop the apples browning).
  3. Drain the apples, then spread a little peanut butter onto one side of each apple ring.
  4. Top with desired toppings (try fresh, frozen or dried fruit, seeds, nuts, coconut, maple syrup, ground cinnamon etc... )
  5. Alternatively, set out all the topping ingredients into small bowls and let kids add what they like to their 'apple pizzas!', encouraging them to try new tastes, flavors and textures!
