Inspiring Client Stories!

At South Michigan Food Bank, our clients are at the heart of everything we do. Your resilience and strength inspire us, reminding us of the importance of our mission. We are honored to serve you and to highlight some of your stories!

SMFB has gained new clients in St. Joseph County for our Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), which means we are now 460 clients strong!

Our CSFP Coordinator, Jamie, had the opportunity to speak to one of our new clients, Sue, who shared that she used to take the bus from Three Rivers to Centreville for every distribution since she didn’t have a vehicle or any family to take her. Regardless of what the weather conditions were, Sue would brace for Michigan weather to receive her food. Since she has been with SMFB, we have been able to get her set up on home delivered food boxes, so that she no longer has to travel so far or be out in the elements. Sue expressed that she is so grateful for us, and even told Jamie that she was an angel! We are thankful to be able to support our neighbors and make a difference, one life at a time.

We also have a new client, Amiee, that just joined our CSFP program in White Pigeon. Aimee had recently lost her husband and has been getting by on very little income, which has led to a struggle both emotionally and financially. After being referred to our program by DHHS, Jamie was able to learn more about Aimee, support her through these difficult times, and give her a list of all the resources available to her in St. Joseph County. Aimee was so overjoyed that she told Jamie she was a big blessing to her and that she is thankful for SMFB.

Our hearts are full knowing that we were able to ease some of the burden she has been facing, and we will continue to support her to ensure she has the ability to thrive!
