Grapefruit
Health Benefits
Grapefruits are a great source of vitamin A and vitamin C. Vitamin A supports eye health and both vitamin A and C are great for immune health. A single grapefruit contains about 100% of the recommended daily intake for vitamin C!
Cooking Methods
Grapefruits can be enjoyed raw or cooked. Try broiling grapefruit to caramelize the top. Cut the grapefruit in half and sprinkle it with sugar or honey. Broil cut side up for 3-5 minutes until browned.
Seasonings
Since grapefruit is bitter, try adding some sugar or honey. Grapefruit also pairs well with mint.
Storage & Preservation
Grapefruits last longest in the refrigerator. Store them whole and in the crisper drawer. They can last 2-4 weeks this way. You can freeze grapefruit, but the texture might change. Do this by peeling the grapefruit. Remove the seeds and cut into slices. Place the slice on a try and freeze. Once frozen, transfer to a freezer safe bag and freeze for 3-4 months.
