Stamp Out Hunger is a nationwide movement to end hunger! It’s an annual food drive that supports food banks and pantries by partnering with local postal services. The event began in 1993 and has grown into the largest one-day food drive in the country. Total food donations have surpassed 1.9 billion pounds throughout the history of the event.
Every year, SMFB teams up with the Battle Creek Post Office to fight food insecurity in our community. Stamp Out Hunger bags are distributed to thousands of households across Battle Creek, where neighbors can donate nonperishable food items and leave them near their mailboxes for mail carriers to collect. These food items are then donated to local agency partners of SMFB throughout Battle Creek. It’s a perfect opportunity for everyone to get involved in our mission from home!
In 2026, we collected 15,494 pounds of nonperishable foods to distribute to our agency partners. This incredible effort would not be possible without the dedication of our local mail carriers, volunteers, community partners, and generous neighbors who take the time to help us fight hunger each year.
Every bag of food collected helps provide meals and hope to individuals and families facing food insecurity in our community.
We are so grateful to everyone who participated in this year’s Stamp Out Hunger food drive and helped make a difference right here in Battle Creek. Together, we are continuing to fight hunger and ensure our neighbors have access to the food they need.
Thank you for helping us Stamp Out Hunger! We’ll see you at next year’s Stamp Out Hunger event on May 8th, 2027!
